I've been super blah the past few days... kinda ever since I got back from NYC on Monday. On Saturday I went to the Doctor Who season 7 premiere at the Ziegfeld theater, which was just gangbusters. It was hosted by Chris Hardwick (of the Nerdist podcast, which I listen to pretty much every time I draw for extended periods of time), and Matt Smith and Karen Gillan were there... it was super surreal. Here's a photo I took from that:

Anyway, I think it's just taking me a little while to decompress after such an exciting weekend in the city. So to prove I haven't stopped drawing (despite my blue-ness), here's a souffle girl and some sketchbook Avengers babies... (don't ask).
(And then I colored a little:)

Improvement Meme

So I've been wanting to do this for a while and I finally got around to it. It's always cool to see how much better I've gotten over the years.

Gul Dukat

My dad and I were watching Star Trek DS9 tonight and I wanted to draw Gul Dukat because he's eeeevil.

Here's a closer view of his weird Cardassian face:

Fireflies Card

New promotional postcard:

(Here's a version without text)

Sometimes the silly part of brain is like, hey... draw this! And then the rational part of my brain is like, nooo, that's silly! And then my silly brain is like, no you're silly. And then my rational brain is like, whatever just do it.

Shameless Self-Promotion

My Society6 shop is offering free shipping on all of my prints (and iPod/laptop skins and t-shirts, etc) until August 12th! It's a good time to snatch up best-sellers like "TV" and "Shawarma"... yup.

Horse and Other Things

I watched some Olympic dressage this morning and it made me really want to draw a horse, because I haven't drawn one in a while. I thought it might be fun to try and paint one from scratch on Photoshop, so that's what this is:

As someone who doesn't really paint, I'm pretty happy with this. It took a few hours (maybe 4?).

Also, check out this first in a series of illustrations I'm doing for this new website- link.  I'll be doing a new illustration every month. The prompt was suicide, and each issue will follow a one of these characters as they reflect back on memories of a girl who committed suicide. A little heavier fare than I'm used to, but it's been a good project and I'm having fun with it.

Andy Murray yay!

Andy Murray won the Gold Medal! WOO! The best thing about tennis is that I like all the players so I'm usually happy when anybody wins, but in this case I was really rooting for Murray in his match against Federer (a rematch of the Wimbledon final a month ago that he lost).

Fireflies - Color Study

Haven't posted anything in a little while, so I thought I'd just share this color comp I did for a piece I'm hoping to use as a children's book postcard. We shall see if I'm happy with it when it's done...

Also, hopefully sometime soon I'll be able to share some of the commission stuff I've been doing. I finished up my first children's book a month or so ago and should be getting a few copies in the mail soon! I also just finished the first piece of a 12-part series I'm doing for an online magazine, and once that's out I'll be sure to post a link.
